Porpora Marcasciano, the movement, from underground to queer to MIT.
The MAMbo Project Room, thematic space in which the artistic experiences of the Bologna and Emilia-Romagna area are reconstructed, narrated and enhanced, opens up to a new exhibition project that will be visible from 11 November 2022 to 8 January 2023: Non sono dove mi cercate. Porpora Marcasciano, the movement, from underground to queer to MIT.
The exhibition, curated by Michele Bertolino, presents a selection of unpublished drawings produced between 1973-1977 and again from 1981 to the middle of the decade, and forgotten for several years. The drawings are psychedelic compositions in which the imagery of an entire generation takes shape in the form of surreal mechanical landscapes and stratified formations in which alien bodies, hands and lips, breasts, vaginas, phalluses and tubes melt into each other.
The exhibition includes the sound installation Non siamo dove ci cercate created by ALMARE, in which testimonies, songs, recordings and archival materials project us into the midst of noises and dreams that are still current today.
